ANAHEIM PUBLIC UTILITIES INCREASES TURF REMOVAL REBATES IN RESPONSE TO THE DROUGHT
ANAHEIM, Calif. (July 25, 2014) Anaheim Public Utilities recently increased their turf removal rebate in response to California’s drought to encourage customers to save water with outdoor landscaping. The Utility is now offering qualified residents a $3 per square foot rebate—which has increased from $1 per square foot earlier this year —for removing water-intensive turf grass and replacing it with California Friendly landscaping or artificial turf. The increase is made possible by a grant from the California State Department of Water Resources.
On average, 50% of a resident’s total water use is for outdoor irrigation. Replacing grass lawn with California Friendly alternatives allows customers to save both water and money. “We should all do our part and help conserve water during this drought, and this rebate is one way residents can participate,” said Mayor Tom Tait.
