Miguel Angel Reyes, a 23-year-old man, was charged on Tuesday, May 19, on suspicion of fatally stabbing Jolina Ramirez, a 17-year-old girl he knew, in Anaheim on Saturday night, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Ramirez was with a group of friends at Ponderosa Park on Saturday night. The police got the call about the fight at 8:30 p.m. Reyes and the victim got into some sort of dispute which led to Reyes stabbing Ramirez, at Leatrice Lane and Haster Street. The police indicated that Reyes and Ramirez knew each other but the reason for the altercation is not yet known.
Ramirez was pronounced dead at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, shortly after she arrived.
Reyes was charged with voluntary manslaughter with sentencing enhancements for committing an offense while out of custody and for the personal use of a deadly weapon, according to the O.C. Register.
