Road closures for Disneyland races this weekend

There will be several road closures and possible traffic delays around Disneyland and the Platinum Triangle this weekend as the park hosts its Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon, Thor 10K and Spider-Man 5K.

The 5K race begins at 5 a.m. on Friday, the 10K race begins at 5 a.m. on Saturday and the half marathon will begin at 5 a.m. on Sunday. Road closures will span Friday through Sunday, Nov. 10-12, mostly in the early morning.

FORMER DISNEYLAND EMPLOYEE SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTING TO SELL TICKETS IN EXCHANGE FOR SEX WITH MINOR

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A former Disneyland employee pleaded guilty today to a court offer and was sentenced to one year in jail, five years of formal probation, and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration for attempting to sell tickets to Disneyland in exchange for sex with a minor. Darreck Michael Enciso, 27, Adelanto, pleaded guilty to one felony count of attempted lewd act upon a child, one felony count of contacting a child with the intent to commit a specified sex crime, and one felony count of meeting a minor with the intent to engage in lewd conduct.

At the time of the crime, Enciso was an employee at the Disneyland Resort. Continue reading→

The Anaheim City Council is up to their old tricks again – this time they want to hand a $1.5 million dollar tax giveaway to the powerful and wealthy Disney company.

Community leaders are fed up with both the City Council and Disney. A protest is set for July 7, 2015, at 5 p.m., at Anaheim’s City Hall, located at 200 South Anaheim Blvd., where a public hearing on this matter will be held. Continue reading→

More than 700 volunteers build largest playground in single day

Anaheim, Calif. (May 4, 2015) – This past Saturday, in celebration of Disneyland Resort’s 60th anniversary this year, more than 700 volunteers transformed 27-acre Twila Reid Park in west Anaheim. This marks the eighth Orange County KaBOOM! playground built and largest nationwide, providing vibrant play spaces to more than 13,500 kids.

“We are proud to join with KaBOOM! to continue Disneyland Resort’s 60-year legacy of giving back to the community,” said Disneyland Resort President Michael Colglazier. “By creating this playground, we are giving Anaheim families a new space to be active and make memories together.” Continue reading→

Star Wars comics launch party set for 1/14 at Phat Collectibles in Anaheim

Star Wars Comics are returning to Marvel Comics, in the wake of the purchase of the Star Wars franchise by the Disney Company, which also owns Marvel Comics.

Writer Jason Aaron, artist John Cassaday and colorist Laura Martin are the creative team behind a brand-new series spotlighting beloved characters from the original Star WArs trilogy. Taking place immediately after the events of “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,” follow the continued adventures of Luke, Han, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and more as the growing Rebel Alliance battles for freedom against the Imperial Forces of the Galactic Empire, according to Marvel Comics.

Disney, Pringle and the OCTaxPAC got punked in the Anaheim General Election

Disney poured at least $671,000 into political action committees financing the city council campaigns of Anaheim City Council candidates Gail Eastman and Kris Murray in the NOv. 4, 2014 General Election, according to the Voice of OC. At least one Disney-supported PAC spent $136,925 on campaign ads against two challengers, Jose F. Moreno and James Vanderbilt, according to campaign records, as reported by the OC Register.

John Lewis, a former state senator and assemblyman who is working as a campaign consultant for Vanderbilt and Mayor Tait, said Disney is using its financial clout to ensure that a $320 million streetcar is built. The project would connect Disneyland to a a transit hub near Angel Stadium, according to the OC Register.

For Disney it was worth spending $671K if they could ensure that they could rip off the people of Anaheim with a $320M streetcar the city doesn’t need. Continue reading→
