HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (August 5, 2016) – StandUp for Kids, Orange County won the 2016-17 Carmax Grant of $20,000 to use for homeless youth and will implement The Young Entrepreneurs Academy – or YEA! – Program to both their Huntington Beach and Anaheim centers in the fall.
“We’re very excited to implement the YEA! Program for our homeless youth,” said Justine Palmore, executive director of StandUp for Kids, Orange County. “Our homeless, disadvantaged youth will have the opportunity to learn new skills, become young entrepreneurs and hopefully win the grant.” Continue reading

Local Youth Charity to Launch STEM Program
ANAHEIM, Calif. – StandUp for Kids Orange County, the local chapter of a nation-wide youth homelessness organization, has announced the launch of a new STEM program at its Anaheim Outreach Center. The STEM program is the first of its kind at the Orange County chapter and will begin September 20, 2016.
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program is a fifteen week course that will utilize curriculum from Rokenbok Education. Students will have access to skilled tutoring, the opportunity to create a grade-level science project, and online resources to develop science skills and career plans. Continue reading

ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 12, 2016) – Registration is now open for residents to sign up for fun and affordable summer classes offered by the city of Anaheim. The EZ Rec Connect guide can help you choose from classes offered for every member of the family.
Classes include recreation and fitness, art and dance for both youth and adults, specialty day camps, tiny tots, gymnastics, art, education, music, science, cooking, sports and much more. All classes begin the week of June 19.
Interested in a preview and discount day? On Saturday, April 16, residents can visit one of three community centers to learn more about the camps, classes and special activities. Attend on April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to receive a 10 percent early registration discount, up to $10 off any class or camp registered at the preview day. Continue reading

Anaheim’s 91st Annual Fall Festival and Halloween Parade Offers Spooktacular Fun for the Entire Family

ANAHEIM, Calif. (October 21, 2015) – Anaheim’s annual Fall Festival and Halloween Parade celebration in Downtown Anaheim is set for this weekend with an expanded schedule for three days of family fun. This year the Fall Festival will take place at Farmers Park on Friday, Oct. 23 thru Sunday, Oct. 25. The highlight of the Fall Festival will be the Halloween Parade debuting its new route on Saturday, Oct. 24.
The Halloween Parade, in its 91st year, will feature colorful floats, bands and entertainment. This year’s grand marshal is Kid Ramos and the Colony Boys of Anaheim. In addition, a special grand marshal for kids is sure to be popular with parade attendees of all ages.
