Batting Clean Up For Team Planet!

We are excited to announce the 3rd Annual Eco Challenge Poster Contest. Enter the County of Orange poster contest for the chance to be an Honorary Bat Kid at an Angels baseball game this year by creating a poster that clearly demonstrates how you personally ‘Take the Eco Challenge’.

Design a poster which shows examples of projects or activities that you have developed or engaged in that promote recycling, reusing, or reducing in your school, home or community. The poster should focus on your personal plan of action. Posters will be judged based on originality, visual clarity, relevance to theme, artwork, and effectiveness of message. Winners will be selected by the County of Orange, Discovery Cube of Orange County and Angels Baseball representatives. Continue reading→

Home Hazardous Waste Center in Anaheim Commemorates America Recycles Day

OC Residents Visit, Pledge & ‘Do the Right Thing’ at County Facilities

Hundreds of Orange County residents helped commemorate the 17th Annual America Recycles Day by bringing their household hazardous waste to the county’s free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center in Anaheim.

The center is the largest of four HHW facilities operated by OC Waste & Recycling. The other facilities—in Huntington Beach, Irvine and San Juan Capistrano—also had a strong turnout of visitors on America Recycles Day. Continue reading→

OC Waste & Recycling, in partnership with Discovery Science Center, Goodwill of Orange County, and Angels Baseball will provide free disposal of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Bring your favorite Angels memorabilia for an autograph with Angels starting pitcher Garrett Richards. The first 200 cars to bring household hazardous waste, e-waste or gently used clothing will have priority access to meet Garrett Richards as well as the opportunity to choose between four free tickets to that night’s Angels game or four free general admission tickets to the Discovery Science Center (while supplies last). Goodwill of OC and the County of Orange celebrate Earth Month by holding a Spring Cleaning Eco Challenge Donation Event at the Honda Center on Saturday, April 12.

SANTA ANA, CALIF.—Goodwill of Orange County, in partnership with the County of Orange, the Anaheim Ducks, and Discovery Science Center, is hosting a Spring Cleaning Eco Challenge donation event on Saturday, April 12 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Honda Center parking lot.

The first 100 cars that donate reusable household items or bring paper for certified and secure on-site shredding services can receive their choice of a pair (TWO) of Anaheim Ducks hockey tickets, a Ducks autographed Eco Challenge hockey puck, or a FOUR-pack of tickets to Discovery Science Center.* Continue reading→
