ANAHEIM, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2015) Celebrate Halloween with your family dog at the city’s first Anaheim Howl-a-ween event at La Palma Dog Park on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participating or attending the festive event with your pawsitively best friend is a great way to get in the spirit for family-fun activities this time of year.
The Anaheim Howl-a-ween event will include a dog costume contest, doggie trick-or-treating, a photo booth, doggie treats, entertainment, refreshments and more.

OC Animal Care Needs Public Assistance Locating Dog and Owner
(Orange, CA) OC Animal Care is investigating a dog involved in an attack on two horses in O’Neill Regional Park on March 27, 2015. The horses were being ridden on Live Oak Trail at approximately 12:45 pm. The equestrians reported that both horses sustained multiple bites by the dog, which reportedly was being walked off-leash by its owner at the time of the attack.
Anyone with information on the dog, the owner or the attack is encouraged to contact OC Animal Care Operations at (714)796-6460. Please reference case A15-008874. Reporting parties are permitted to remain anonymous if they choose. LA PALMA DOG PARK SET TO OPEN ON SATURDAY, MARCH 7
All are welcome to attend – dogs and their pet-parents!
Calif. (February 19, 2015) The highly anticipated La Palma Dog Park will open on Saturday, March 7, with a dedication ceremony to take place at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend, including dogs and their pet-parents.
La Palma Dog Park will feature separate small and large dog areas surrounded by a 6-foot high perimeter fence divided by an interior fence. There will be two entrance areas, watering stations, double-gate entrances, shade trees, benches, and ADA accessibility. Parking is available on the north side of the park, along La Palma Park Way. Supervisor Spitzer Opposes Dog License Fee Increase

This week, the Board of Supervisors, in a 3-1 vote, approved a new fee schedule for OC Animal Care, which increased 55 fees, decreased 19 fees, and maintained 29 fees at their prior levels. Supervisor Todd Spitzer cast the sole vote against the new fee schedule, which increases the standard dog license fee by 12.5%.
“By increasing the standard dog licensing fee from $24 to $27, Orange County has one of the highest fees in Southern California,” Supervisor Spitzer said. “I oppose this fee increase because it is unfair to law-abiding citizens who are forced to pay more to subsidize those who break the law by refusing to license their dogs.” Continue reading

NEWS ADVISORY: Dogs Will Pack OCTA Buses For Day of Training
WHAT: Dogs riding buses. More than 100 service animals and their handlers are expected to attend a unique training event on April 5 that will help them get accustomed to navigating the public bus system.
Handlers will work with their therapy and service animals – including Golden Retrievers, Labradors, poodles and more – continually boarding, riding and exiting an Orange County Transportation Authority bus so they can get familiar with large groups of people, loud noises and unfamiliar sights and sounds. Participants also will get access to the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park, where they will encounter the sounds of whizzing rollercoasters, children running toward their favorite rides and plenty of other activity.
