Mother’s Market and Power Crunch to Host “Overcoming Obstacles” Food Drive in Support of Boys & Girls Club
In support of the Boys & Girls Club, all seven of Mother’s Market’s stores will be hosting a food drive as part of Power Crunch’s “Overcoming Obstacles Food Drive.
Food donations will be collected through Nov. 21, and then delivered to the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim on Nov. 22 as part of an Overcoming Obstacles event. At the event Power Crunch will distribute 200 bags containing all the donated food to families in need, provide a blow up obstacle course for the children and host fun family friendly games. StandUp For Kids Wins $20,000 Grant for Young Entrepreneurs
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (August 5, 2016) – StandUp for Kids, Orange County won the 2016-17 Carmax Grant of $20,000 to use for homeless youth and will implement The Young Entrepreneurs Academy – or YEA! – Program to both their Huntington Beach and Anaheim centers in the fall.
“We’re very excited to implement the YEA! Program for our homeless youth,” said Justine Palmore, executive director of StandUp for Kids, Orange County. “Our homeless, disadvantaged youth will have the opportunity to learn new skills, become young entrepreneurs and hopefully win the grant.” Continue reading→

Local Youth Charity to Launch STEM Program
ANAHEIM, Calif. – StandUp for Kids Orange County, the local chapter of a nation-wide youth homelessness organization, has announced the launch of a new STEM program at its Anaheim Outreach Center. The STEM program is the first of its kind at the Orange County chapter and will begin September 20, 2016.
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program is a fifteen week course that will utilize curriculum from Rokenbok Education. Students will have access to skilled tutoring, the opportunity to create a grade-level science project, and online resources to develop science skills and career plans. Continue reading→

Northgate Gonzalez Market is donating 58,000 pounds of food to local food books through Waste Not OC, a public-private partnership committed to ending hunger and reducing food waste in Orange County.

The city of Anaheim’s 24th annual Transportation Fair and Chili Cook-Off will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in downtown Anaheim on Center Street. Admission is free and chili tasting tickets are just $1 for two tickets, so come hungry!

Assemblywoman Young Kim Invites Community to “Stuff the Bus” for Orange County Students in Anaheim and Stanton
FULLERTON – Assemblywoman Young Kim (R-Fullerton) today launched the 2015 “Stuff the Bus” school donation drive to provide new school supplies to benefit K-12 students in the Anaheim and Stanton areas. Kim, along with the community partners, encourage the community to come out and generously donate pens, paper, backpack, notebooks, crayons, tissues, rulers, and other basic supplies needed at every level to help the students and families who struggle to provide them.
Stuff the Bus will help parents who may struggle to afford basic supplies. “Every child deserves a quality education to help them reach their academic potential. Stuff the Bus is a grass-roots effort to help provide the resources students and families need to help make this possible for many,” said Kim. “I encourage the community to generously donate the much-needed supplies, and I also thank my community partners for joining me in this effort,” she added.
