Anaheim celebrates Black History Month with downtown parade and street fair

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2016) – The streets of downtown Anaheim will be filled with African-American pride and celebration on Feb. 6 as the 36th annual Orange County Black History Month Parade & Faire comes to town.

Some 8,000 people and 100 groups are expected to come together for the event, which kicks off Black History Month and recognizes the contributions of African-Americans to Anaheim, Orange County and our nation. Click here for a video preview. Continue reading→

January at Muzeo: “King Tut” held over and “NokmeeJun” opens

Anaheim, CA (January 8, 2016) – Muzeo is pleased to announce that King Tut: “Wonderful Things” from the Pharaoh’s Tomb is being held over through January 30th. This collection of 131 replicas – one of Muzeo’s most popular exhibits to date – has also been visited by over 3500 Anaheim and Orange County students thus far, due in part to a transportation grant from Wells Fargo.

MUZEO CELEBRATES 7th ANNUAL ECO ART CONTEST

TrashARTist Challenge and Green Expo celebrates making wonder out of waste

February 19, 2015 (Anaheim) — Students across Orange County are re-hashing trash in the form of treasured artwork for MUZEO’s seventh annual TrashARTist Challenge. Sponsored by the Disneyland Resort and designed with assistance from the Orange County Department of Education, the TrashARTist Challenge promotes upcycling, sustainability, conservation and creatively recycling trash to design of art. This year’s TrashARTist Challenge consists of art contest, complete with award ceremony, and a Green Expo on March 7 for the community.

Students can work individually or in groups and are categorized by grades: 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 to compete for 1st and 2nd place recognition, honorable mention, and the crowd favorite – People’s Choice award. The public is invited to view the projects and vote for the People’s Choice winner on March 7. Artists must complete an official entry form online by February 26. 35th Annual Orange County Black History Parade & Cultural Faire set for Saturday February 7, 2015 in Downtown Anaheim

Anaheim – The 35th Annual Orange County Black History Parade and Cultural Faire will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Downtown Anaheim. The event celebrates African American heritage and Black History Month. The day will be filled with learning and fun for the whole family and is enjoyed by people of all ethnicities in the Southland.

Parade viewers are encouraged to arrive early and bring a portable chair to get a prime viewing spot. The parade steps off at 10: 00 AM on Anaheim Boulevard at Lincoln Avenue, continues south past Anaheim City Hall and ends at Santa Ana Street. Continue reading→

ANAHEIM K9 MONUMENT ARTIST APPROVED BY CULTURAL AND HERITAGE COMMISSION

ANAHEIM, Calif. (August 25, 2014) The Anaheim Cultural and Heritage Commission has approved sculptor Susan Bahary as the artist to design the bronze K9 monuments to be placed in Anaheim’s future dog parks.

The monuments will honor Anaheim Police Department K9 officers. Earlier this year, K9 Bruno was shot while on duty. Bruno survived and has inspired millions throughout the world in support of the dangerous work by police officers and their K9 partners each and every day. Continue reading→

The MUZEO is hosting the 14th Annual Anaheim Union High School District Student Art and Photography Exhibit, Color and Light, with a free reception that starts on Monday, April 21, 2014, from 4:40 pm – 8:40 pm at 241 South Anaheim Blvd., in Anaheim. You may attend a reception and view artwork at 4:40 p.m. The program begins at 6:00 p.m.
