
ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 16, 2021) – Homicide detectives have arrested Richard Flores, 20, of Anaheim for the nighttime shooting death of 30-year-old Jefferson Anthony Davis, also of Anaheim.
At about 11:30 p.m. last night, Anaheim officers responded to a shots fired call in the 1700 block of W. Glenoaks Ave. and found Davis suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
After the shooting, Flores was identified as a person of interest. Investigators located Flores traveling in a vehicle in the city of Fullerton and attempted to contact him, but Flores fled.
The Anaheim Police SWAT team conducted an extensive search of the area and located Flores in the 600 block of S. Brookhurst Road in Fullerton. Flores was taken into custody without further incident. The resulting investigation confirmed Flores is the suspect in the shooting death of Davis.
The SWAT team subsequently served a related search warrant at a motel in the 1000 block of E. Orangethorpe Ave. in Anaheim.
Detectives do not believe this homicide is gang-related. Detectives have declined to discuss details about other possible motives or the evidence that led to the identification of Flores as a suspect.
Flores was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility for murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million.
