PAROLEE SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED WITH HELP OF K-9
Yesterday on Friday, November 24, 2017, at about 4:30 p.m., Riverside Police officers responded to the 1700 block of Main Street, in Riverside, regarding a registered sex offender, Gabriel Vasquez, 43-years-old of Anaheim, wanted by State Parole for cutting off his GPS ankle monitoring device. Officers arrived and formulated a plan to contact this subject at the residence he was at according to the GPS device.
As they approached the residence, they observed the subject in the driveway. The parolee saw the officers and fled out the back of the property onto Fremont Elementary School. Officers established a perimeter and requested the assistance of the Air Support Unit and a K-9. After an extensive search of the school grounds, the parolee was located by K-9 “Rocco.” He was found hiding in thick brush and taken into custody.
Vasquez was arrested for the parole violation warrant and resisting arrest. He was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance then later booked into jail.
