The Anaheim Police Department APD received an unknown trouble call at 8:48 pm on May 23, 2017, at 5815 E. La Palma Ave. Neighbors reported hearing sounds of an assault. While units were responding, witnesses reported seeing the 18 year old son fleeing on foot with a baseball bat.
When the first units arrived, they saw through a window an adult female on the ground in the unit suffering what appeared to be severe blunt force trauma injuries. Officers forced entry and began rendering medical attention. The victim was transported to a local trauma center where she remains in extremely critical condition with potentially life-threatening injuries.
While officers were establishing a perimeter, Seth White called APD advising he was nearby on the Santa Ana River Trail. Officers contacted him and took him into custody without incident. The victim is his mother, Karen White, 58, a sworn Peace Officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
