Joel Guerrerojasso, a 36-year-old man, was convicted Wednesday of sexually assaulting two underage female relatives multiple times over several years in Anaheim, according to the O.C. Register.
Guerrerojasso is facing a potential maximum penalty of 45 years to life in state prison. He is set to be sentenced on Jan. 27.
Guerrerojasso was convicted of several felonies including two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14, as well as one count each of lewd acts on a child ages 14 or 15 and forcible oral copulation. He also received sentencing enhancements for having had multiple victims.
The oldest victim was a girl who had just turned 17 when Guerrerojasso was arrested in September of last year, according to the OCDA. The other victim was a 12-year old girl.
The older victim remembered that Guerrerojasso , who was a relative, had been molesting and abusing her since she was only 8-years old. The sexual assaults began when she was in the third grade and never stopped until Guerrerojasso was finally arrested.
Guerrerojasso also showed his victim girl pornographic videos on his cell phone while he was also encouraging her to engage in sexual activities.
Whenever the victim’s mother was not around, Guerrerojasso would corner her and he even threatened to have her quinceanera party canceled if she didn’t have sex with him. He used that threat to escalate their sexual activities.
Guerrerojasso confessed to trying to have sex with the two girls when he was arrested in September of last year.
However the younger victim initially denied that anything had happened when she was first questioned by social workers and police investigators. But she finally admitted that she was molested when she was interviewed again in August of this year.
