ANAHEIM HILLS ANNUAL FIRECRACK RUN AND 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION
ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., June 23, 2016 –The 28th Annual Firecracker run is taking place Monday, July 4th at the Canyon High School track at 7:00 a.m. The 5k/10k walk/ run is produced by the Anaheim Hills Community Council, together with The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, where more than 20,000 neighbors, friends and families come together to celebrate the birth of our great nation.
The Anaheim Hills Community Council is a non-profit organization created to assist in branding and building a strong community.
Every year the run attracts approximately 3,000 runners, walkers, spectators, vendors and sponsors to kick off the day followed by additional festivities. Online registration for the race is now available at www.anaheimhillscommunitycouncil.org where participants can join a team or sign up individually.
As a special thanks to all veterans and military members, this year all active military personnel can run for free.
This year the race will begin promptly at 7:00 a.m. on Santa Ana Canyon and Imperial in front of the Canyon High School track. Water stations and portable restrooms will be available along the race route for convenience.
A prize will be given to the best dressed for their patriotic wardrobe as the best Uncle Sam or Lady Liberty and all those who take part in the run/walk will receive a 4th of July finisher medal.
The day’s events include a delicious pancake breakfast served immediately following the race, a Yankee Doodle Dog show, a 4th of July parade and a food festival with live entertainment at Peralta Park culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.
The Canyon Wrestling team is partnering with the Anaheim Hills Community Council and Rotary to bring you our annual Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m., starting at the Canyon High School, going east on Santa Ana Canyon road and ending at Quiantanna street at 3:00 pm.
In tune with our theme this year, Proud to be an American, there will be a hundred-person flag march by volunteers from the Church of Latter Day Saints, proudly carrying our American flag.
The day wraps up at Petra Park, where food vendors and live music are available until 8:45 p.m., then the grand finale at 9:00 p.m. with a spectacular firework show.
