Subject: Residential Burglary Arrest – Update
ANAHEIM, CA – On April 5, 2016, Jonas McClanahan was arrested at his Whittier home during the service of a search warrant related to a burglary which occurred in Anaheim Hills on January 4, 2016. During a search of McClanahan’s home, a significant amount of stolen property was recovered, including tens of thousands of dollars of property stolen during the January 4th burglary.
During the past week, Anaheim detectives, working in collaboration with investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, have been able to locate victims from another six completed residential burglaries in Anaheim Hills, as well as four completed residential burglaries and one attempted residential burglary in Yorba Linda. Stolen property from all of these burglaries was amongst the property recovered during the search of McClanahan’s home.
All of the Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda burglaries were reported between January 1, 2016 and April 3, 2016. A significant amount of stolen property, mostly jewelry and coins, has not been linked to victims at this time.
If anyone believes they were possibly a victim of McClanahan’s crimes, they are encouraged to contact the detective assigned to their case. The handling detective will then coordinate a viewing of the recovered property with Anaheim Police personnel. Further, if anyone purchased items from or were given items by McClanahan, there is a high likelihood the items are stolen. Anyone with such property is asked to contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-765-1900.
Additionally, McClanahan has been linked to at least one residential burglary in Northern California. He has been charged with three counts of residential burglary and one count of possession of stolen property. In light of the new information, additional charges are expected. McClanahan remains in the custody of the Orange County Jail on $500,000 bail.
