Subject: Two Suspects Arrested in Separate Pharmacy Burglaries
ANAHEIM, CA – On Friday, April 8, 2016, detectives from the Anaheim Police Department Burglary/Auto Theft Detail, along with investigators from the Vice Detail and Crime Task Force arrested Joey Baldovinos, 20, at his home located at 2745 S. Fremont Street #4 in Alhambra during a probation search of the residence. Baldovinos was arrested for the burglary of a pharmacy located at 1012 N. Euclid Street, which occurred on January 7th, 2016. The same pharmacy was burglarized again last week on April 6, 2016.
Baldovinos is on formal probation for commercial burglary from an earlier pharmacy burglary in Los Angeles County. During the search of his home, detectives recovered several empty bottles of prescription cough syrup containing Promethazine and Codeine. The bottles were not taken from the Anaheim burglaries and detectives are working with other law enforcement partners in an effort to determine how many other pharmacy burglaries Baldovinos has been involved in. It is also unclear at this point if Baldovinos was involved in the April 6th burglary at the same location. Baldovinos was booked for commercial burglary and his bail was statutorily set at $25,000. He posted bond and has been released pending court proceedings.
On Monday, April 11, 2016, Darnell Clarke, 30, a resident of Long Beach, was arrested at the West Orange County Courthouse for the burglary of the Medicine Shoppe at 2795 W. Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim, which occurred on October 29, 2015. At the time of his arrest, Clarke was out on bail and appearing for a scheduled court hearing related to an August, 2015 pharmacy burglary in Fountain Valley. Anaheim detectives are again working with other law enforcement partners in an effort to ascertain what other crimes, if any, Clarke has been involved in.
Clarke is a documented criminal street gang member in Los Angeles County and was charged with gang enhancements in the Fountain Valley case. Due to the totality of the circumstances, Clarke’s bail was increased to $500,000 and he is being held at the Orange County Jail.
At this point there is no known connection between Baldovinos and Clarke. Photographs are attached below of the prescription bottles recovered from Baldovinos’ residence. Anyone who believes they know the source of the bottles, or has information about these or other crimes, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or by email at www.occrimestoppers.org.
