ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 11, 2016) – Residents are invited to “Love Anaheim” and join a community service project on Saturday, April 30.
This citywide service event will dispatch volunteers to locations throughout Anaheim to bring neighborhoods, schools and families together through community projects. All activities will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The “Love Anaheim” project is spearheaded by community volunteers.
The “Love Anaheim” website features a list of activities from which to choose. From park beautification projects, to teaching arts and crafts, to leading children’s games and more, all are designed to accommodate a variety of skills and interests.
Anaheim has long worked alongside its residents on community engagement and beautification projects, and Love Anaheim builds upon the city’s strong foundation.
Here are a few examples:
In 2011 Mayor Tait introduced his Hi Neighbor program as part of his City of Kindness initiative, to encourage residents to get to know each other to strengthen neighborhoods and build resiliency in the event of an emergency.
The Community Services department hosts quarterly neighborhood meetings are held in the east, west, central and south quadrants of the city, and are opportunities for residents to speak directly with staff members about ideas and projects, in addition to library and youth and adult programs are held on a daily basis.
Anaheim Police and Fire engage residents from youth to seniors year round in meetings, events and volunteer programs.
