65th Assembly District candidate Sharon Quirk-Silva announced yesterday that she has received endorsements “from all seven City of Santa Ana council members including Mayor Miguel Pulido.”
Does Quirk-Silva know what district she is running for? The 65th Assembly District does not include even one block of Santa Ana. The 65th Assembly District includes parts of these cities:
- Anaheim
- Buena Park
- Cypress
- Fullerton
- Garden Grove
- La Palma
- Stanton
Why would Quirk-Silva bother to get support from the Santa Ana City Council? And why would their endorsement even matter? Santa Ana is a train wreck with increasing gang violence and an overpaid City Manager who has admitted to dating one of his employees, in the city’s Planning Department. Two other city executives, in the Police Department and in Code Enforcement, are now under investigation for the same thing.
And Santa Ana has the highest property taxes and the highest water, business license and trash collection rates/fees in Orange County.
Why would Quirk-Silva brag about getting endorsed by the clowns on the Santa Ana City Council? This is really mind-boggling.
The members of the Santa Ana City Council, like Quirk-Silva, are all Democrats. So perhaps she is thinking that this will somehow sway the voters in the 65th Assembly District. We doubt that very much.
Young Kim, a Republican, defeated Quirk-Silva in 2014 by over 7,000 votes, according to Smart Voter.
