The public is invited to join Anaheim Fire & Rescue and the Anaheim Police Department, together with the City of Anaheim, for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
ANAHEIM, CA – (September 2, 2015) Anaheim’s first responders will honor the thousands of individuals who perished, including 403 emergency personnel, on September 11, 2001 with a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to be held in the Grand Plaza of the Anaheim Convention Center.
Residents, visitors, active and retired military personnel, and first responders are invited to pay their respects in a ceremony starting at 9:00 A.M. Guests are encouraged to arrive at the Grand Plaza by 8:45 A.M.
The program will include a presentation of colors from a joint honor guard of Anaheim’s public safety personnel, comments from Police Chief Raul Quezada, Mayor Tom Tait, and Fire Chief Randy Bruegman, a choral performance from Loara High School, a reading of the Last Bell Ceremony, and the laying of a ceremonial wreath.
“It is difficult to believe that 14 years have passed since that dark day in September,” said Fire Chief Bruegman. “We must always remember the courage and sacrifice that was demonstrated by so many on that day and the days which followed.”
“We must never forget the events of 2001,” said Police Chief Quezada. “This ceremony is to remember and honor those who lost their life on September 11, 2001.”
Complimentary parking with validation will be provided at the Hilton Anaheim/Anaheim Convention Center Car Park 2 which is accessible from Katella Avenue or Harbor Boulevard from Hotel Way. Attendees are asked to bring their parking ticket to the ceremony for validation.
