Homicide Investigation Following Shooting Incident
ANAHEIM, Calif. – (July 20, 2015) – On Sunday, July 19, 2015, Orange County Sheriff’s investigators began an investigation following discovery of two adult male shooting victims. Both victims were found inside a Ford SUV vehicle, stopped in the intersection of Poona Drive and Lullaby Lane in unincorporated Anaheim. The victims were treated by paramedics and transported to an area hospital.
One of the two victims, a 51 year old male, was pronounced dead early this morning as result of his injuries. The deceased victim’s name is not being released until the Coroner Division’s investigator can confirm his identity and notify next of kin.
On Sunday, July 19, 2015 at approximately 9:53 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Poona Drive and Lullaby Lane reference a shooting that just occurred. Deputies arrived and discovered the victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body area.
Based on the preliminary investigation and information obtained at the scene, it appears the victims were in a confrontation with the suspect just prior to the shooting. The suspect fled the area on foot with approximately 3-5 others subjects immediately after the shooting. The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, late teens to early twenties. No further description is available.
Investigators are continuing to determine a motive and whether the shooting was gang-related.
