Subject: Anaheim Police Department to Graduate 480 Junior Cadets
&For the past ten years, Anaheim Police Department Cops 4 Kids has hosted a Junior Cadet program for children ages 9-12. This one of a kind program aims to develop respectful and responsible individuals while fostering positive relationships between police and youth. Jr. Cadets voluntarily
participate or are referred to the program by parents, teachers, or administrators who believe the child would benefit from the “Respect Given, Respect Earned” program motto. The 24-week program is held on eight elementary school campuses throughout Anaheim, and focuses on a
curriculum which includes physical fitness, military drill, and classroom lessons which include: choices/consequences, traffic safety, internet safety, integrity, respect, and personal safety. Each Junior Cadet gives 90 minutes of their after-school time to the program, once a week.
On, Friday, June 12, 2015, the largest class in the 10-year history of the program will be present as we graduate approximately 480 Anaheim Police Department Junior Cadets. The ceremony will include the awarding of certificates and medals, special recognition awards, student speeches, video
presentations, as well as a special gift from Angels Baseball.
