ANAHEIM FIRE & RESCUE INVITES YOU TO JOIN US FOR WILDFIRE COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS DAY
Help us prepare for Anaheim’s first FireSafe Garden on Saturday, May 2 at Fire Station No. 10
ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 10, 2015) – To kick off Wildfire Awareness Week held during the first week of May, Anaheim Fire & Rescue is hosting a Wildfire Community Preparedness Day on Saturday, May 2 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Community members are invited to join fire personnel in prepping the area for Anaheim’s first FireSafe Garden in front of Fire Station No. 10 located at 8270 E. Monte Vista, Anaheim.
“The goal of Wildfire Awareness Week is to highlight how residents can be best prepared for wildfires,” said Anaheim Fire Marshal Jeff G. Lutz. “The Community Preparedness Day at our FireSafe Garden is a great opportunity to prep the area, and discuss how native plants and landscaping design can reduce fire risk around homes. This FireSafe garden will be purposeful, beautiful not to mention drought tolerate.”
Volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves, hat and sunscreen as they together with fire personnel will be removing existing turf and irrigation system. The area will be prepped in advance of this event in mid‐April.
