SANTA ANA – Two former parks and recreation (PAR) managers for the City of Buena Park were convicted and sentenced today for public corruption and embezzling over $1.3 million from the City. Former PAR maintenance manager Rudolph Peter Juarez, 58, Anaheim, pleaded guilty today to 233 felony counts of misappropriation of public funds and four felony counts of filing a false tax return and sentencing enhancements and allegations for causing over $100,000 loss, aggravated white collar crime over $500,000, and property loss over $1.3 million.

Garcia, 42, Chino Hills, pleaded guilty today to 186 felony counts of misappropriation of public funds and four felony counts of willful failure to file or making a fraudulent tax return and sentencing enhancements and allegations for causing over $100,000 loss, aggravated white collar crime over $500,000, and property loss over $1.3 million. ANAHEIM APPROVES NEW CITY PLANNING DIRECTOR
ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 23, 2015) David Belmer will join the City of Anaheim as Planning Director, effective May 26, it was approved and announced at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. Belmer brings more than 25 years of experience in municipal government, including his most recent position of Assistant City Manager/Director of Economic Development and Community Preservation for the City of Lake Forest, to Anaheim’s residential, business and tourist communities.
Belmer’s experience also includes Community Development Director with the City of Cypress, and various Economic Development, Redevelopment, Code Enforcement and Planning positions with the City of Garden Grove. Continue reading

ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 21, 2015) The City of Anaheim today broke ground on the seventh expansion to the world-famous Anaheim Convention Center, for a significant construction project that will add more meeting space, more economic impact, and more jobs in Anaheim.
The seventh expansion to the LEED-certified Anaheim Convention Center will add 200,000 square feet of leasable, flexible space to the building, solidifying its spot as the largest exhibition center on the west coast. The expansion site encompasses the existing Car Park 1 area that fronts Katella Avenue, east of the Convention Center Arena. Continue reading

SANTA ANA – A man on the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) Most Wanted List was arrested and extradited from Mexico after he fled during the middle of a jury trial for committing lewd acts with a child in 1991. Henry Arthur Quinones, 75, was convicted by a jury on Sept. 9, 1991, of 26 felony counts of committing lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14, in his absence. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 8, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-5, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
“This defendant is a pedophile who has escaped punishment for too long. He committed one of the worst violations against a young innocent child,” stated District Attorney Rackauckas. “We will never give up on seeking out fugitives until they’re brought to justice.” Continue reading
Centralia School District Trustees Dennis Salts and Steve Harris
Centralia School District Trustees Steve Harris and Dennis Salts have allegedly admitted to preferring gerrymandered maps that help incumbents, not the community, according to an anonymous source who has been attending Centralia board meetings for the past six months.
Centralia School District Trustees Connor Traut and Art Montez have been pushing for a new district map that best follows the law and keeps the District’s communities together, without consideration to current-Trustee residency.
The Centralia School District is the smallest municipality in Orange County to move to a District-election system, with only 55,000 residents.

REMEMBERING JACKIE ROBINSON’S VISIT TO ANAHEIM, ON MLB’S JACKIE ROBINSON DAY
ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 15, 2015) As Major League Baseball and America remember the late Baseball Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson today, the City of Anaheim is proud to recall when Robinson spent time in Anaheim to film his biographical movie, “The Jackie Robinson Story.”
In February, 1950, Dee Fee Field at La Palma Park was selected as the location set for the Hollywood film production, to shoot scenes for the movie. The scenes shot at the park portrayed Robinson at spring training with the Montreal Royals in Florida, and the Brooklyn Dodgers in Panama. Continue reading
