LA PALMA DOG PARK SET TO OPEN ON SATURDAY, MARCH 7
All are welcome to attend – dogs and their pet-parents!
Calif. (February 19, 2015) The highly anticipated La Palma Dog Park will open on Saturday, March 7, with a dedication ceremony to take place at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend, including dogs and their pet-parents.
La Palma Dog Park will feature separate small and large dog areas surrounded by a 6-foot high perimeter fence divided by an interior fence. There will be two entrance areas, watering stations, double-gate entrances, shade trees, benches, and ADA accessibility. Parking is available on the north side of the park, along La Palma Park Way.
Opening Day will feature entertainment and dog-friendly demonstrations, including Frisbee dogs, agility demonstrations, plus non-profit vendor and information booths.
Dog owners will be asked to keep their dogs on-leash until conclusion of the festivities, approximately 2 p.m., after which the dogs can be off-leash to run and enjoy their new park through the afternoon and evening.
La Palma Dog Park is located at 1151 N. Anaheim Blvd., the northwest corner of La Palma Ave. and Anaheim Blvd. Beginning Sunday, March 8, La Palma Dog Park will resume regular Anaheim park hours of 5:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m., or unless otherwise posted.
The City of Anaheim is also building two more dog parks. The Olive Hills dog park in east Anaheim is anticipated to open this winter, and a dog park in west Anaheim is in the planning phase.
Kash For K9s, a community volunteer committee, is leading fundraising efforts to create and install bronze life-size statues of Anaheim Police K9 officers at Anaheim’s dog parks. The monuments are in support of the dangerous work by police officers and their K9 partners each and every day. Last July, the Anaheim/Orange County Hotel Industry committed an initial $25,000 to Kash for K9s as the seed money to encourage donations from individuals as well as organizations. Artist Susan Bahary was chosen as the sculptress for the monuments. To make a donation or to learn more, please visit www.KashForK9s.com.
