ANAHEIM, CA. – The Orange County American Heart Association will host the Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk/Run on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Gates will open at 5:30 a.m., followed by registration at 6 a.m. This year there is a new 5k timed run that will start at 7:30 a.m. The survivor walk will begin at 8:50 a.m. and the 5k walk will start at 9 a.m.
Before the walk, participants are encouraged to explore the expo area which includes a Kid and Pet Zone, free CPR demonstrations, and blood pressure screenings. The Heart Walk will take place at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim, 2000 East Gene Autry Way in Anaheim. Registration for the 5k walk is free, registration for the 5K timed run is $30.
The annual Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk raises funds for research, and initiatives that promote prevention, treatment, community outreach and better patient care in areas related to heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
The American Heart Association is dedicated to building healthier lives free of heart disease and stroke. Heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases claim more than 831,000 lives every year. The AHA’s goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020.
