ANAHEIM MARIACHI FESTIVAL TO BENEFIT LOCAL MUSIC EDUCATION
ANAHEIM, CA – (October 9, 2014) – The ninth annual Anaheim Mariachi Festival, to be held on Saturday, October 11 at Pearson Park Amphitheatre, will offer fun and entertainment for the entire family, as well as benefit the RHYTHMO Mariachi Academy, a music education program where local youth can continue the tradition of this legendary and multi-cultural music.
The Anaheim Mariachi Festival will feature a street fair at Pearson Park, including arts and crafts from local artists, entertainment, and food from local vendors. The free event will be open from 12 – 5 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.
The showcase Mariachi Concert begins at 6 p.m. in the Pearson Park Amphitheatre. Admission tickets for the Mariachi Concert range from $25 – $75 and can be purchased by visiting www.anaheimmariachi.com.
This year’s Festival will include performances from legendary groups and the talents of new artists, including Ballet Folkorico, Tierra Del Sol, Mariachi Camino Real, Sean Oliu (Anaheim resident and finalist on the 2013 season of La Voz-Kids), Monica Rojas, and Mariachi Trio Los Sanchez.
All proceeds from the Mariachi Festival will go to support the RHYTMO Mariachi Academy, a 501c3 public charity. The Academy has offered affordable music education through the artistry and tradition of mariachi music to hundreds of children who have participated in the program.
The Anaheim Mariachi Festival has entertained the community for nearly a decade, and given the strong connection that mariachi music has to the culture and heritage in Southern California, Mayor Pro Tem Kris Murray requested that the City co-sponsor this year’s event.
Pearson Park is located at 400 N. Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805.
