Anaheim Planning Commissioner Victoria Ramirez Endorses Dr. Jose F. Moreno for Anaheim City Council
(Anaheim) – Anaheim Planning Commissioner Victoria Ramirez has announced her endorsement of Dr. Jose F. Moreno for Anaheim City Council today. She also formerly served as the chair of the Anaheim Planning Commission and joins fellow Planning Commissioner Bill Dalati in endorsing Dr. Jose F. Moreno.
“Dr. Moreno knows that strong neighborhoods are the key to a vibrant, successful Anaheim,” Ramirez said. “His community-first approach is the kind of vision we need on the City Council. Dr. Moreno will be a strong and effective voice for our community on the City Council and truly work to improve the city for us all.”
“I am humbled by Planning Commissioner Ramirez’s kind words,” Dr. Moreno remarked today. “As a long-time resident of Anaheim, I feel a strong desire to help improve our great city and make it even better. As a City Councilmember, I will work to help create an Anaheim that we can be proud to leave behind for our children. Families are the very foundation of our city and I will strive to make sure that Anaheim is great place for all families, residents, and tourists alike. While I value planning and development that supports our resort area, I believe strongly that we need more balanced, responsible, and community-centered development in our city that takes into account the needs of the entire city and our residents.”
Dr. Jose F. Moreno is currently the President of the Board of Education for the Anaheim City School District. He is also an Associate Professor at California State University, Long Beach, where he focuses on Education and Policy Studies.
Dr. Moreno received his B.A. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine, his Ed.M. from Harvard University, and his Ed.D. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy.
Dr. Jose F. Moreno also sits on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Community Housing Corporation (OCCHC) which works to help extremely low-income families, with salaries under $10 an hour, gain greater self-sufficiency and lead enriched lives. He also sits on the Anaheim Police Department Chief’s Advisory Board. In 2007, he was honored as the Anaheim LULAC Citizen of the Year and recognized as one of the 100 most influential Latinos of Orange County in 2008 by Stay Connected OC-Emerging Markets Network.
A father of four beautiful girls, Dr. Moreno and his wife, Lorena Moreno, a Principal in the Long Beach Unified School District, are among the founding parents of the first Dual Language Immersion Program in Anaheim.
