I have lived in the Anaheim/eastern Garden Grove area since I was born, over 45 years of watching Disneyland’s fireworks as a child from high above tree branches, visiting the Big A as a baseball little leaguer, and rooting for the California Surf and LA Rams when they played in Anaheim.
While some things have remained the same in Anaheim, things have changed.
Individuals, businesses, former politicians and other special interests groups have perpetuated in a feeding frenzy for taxpayer money, city owned property or other special city benefits.
There are those aligned with the city lobbyist Pringle Machine, who seemingly want to maintain the Good old boys network that funnels city contracts to paying clients of the lobbyist while campaign contributions flow back to their city council campaign coffers.
Then, there is this new emerging liberal progressive coalition, who at one time supported the Pringle Machine. One of my city council opponents, is a leader of this movement with a seemingly hidden progressive agenda that would be tragic for the Disneyland Resort area and Anaheim.
At stake are thousands of Anaheim businesses and other serving indirect businesses, with thousands of workers employed, and the thousands of Anaheim residents who benefit from our own economic heart, Disneyland.
We will all be negatively impacted if we don’t make educated choices this November 4th. We cannot sustain the pillaging from the Pringle Machine nor can we support a “Hugo Chavez-esque” policies from the extreme left for Anaheim.
Where do I stand?
I support selling the Anaheim Stadium property in the free market as our city government has shown that it has not been able to optimize the benefits of this property. This does not mean losing our beloved team the Anaheim Angels but means getting out of the business of running a stadium. I envision San Diego’s Petco Park where the Big A stands. Why hasn’t this happened yet?
I support our police but will fight to preserve individual liberties by installing mounted video surveillance on officer vests and patrol cars. We have the money to do it and this act will protect all, officers and residents.
I support paying our city’s financial obligations(Bonds, current city Infrastructure, etc.) with the sale of Anaheim Stadium, saving millions of dollars in interests.
I support enacting a city wide, year round sports program for all children in Anaheim, using both the profit from the sale of Anaheim Stadium and the savings in paying our bond obligations early.
I support enacting a city investment fund that will help Anaheim parents deal with the escalating cost of higher education for their deserving children.
While I was born in the United States my wife immigrated here as a child from El Salvador and we our proud to be Americans. I truly believe that the United States of America is the greatest country in the world.
My wife and I are long term residents of Anaheim and raise our 6 children here. I have served my community as a baseball and soccer coach and a board member for a local soccer organization. I have also served my community as a school site chair and PTA recycling coordinator at my children’s elementary school.
As your Councilman I will serve the community – not the special interests
