ANAHEIM TO HOST USA VOLLEYBALL CUP ON WEDNESDAY, AUG. 13
The U.S. Men’s National Team will play the Men’s National Team from Iran
ANAHEIM, CA – (Aug. 11, 2014) – Olympic-level volleyball competition is coming to Anaheim this Wednesday, Aug. 13. The U.S. Men’s National Team will play the Iranian National Team in a 7 p.m. match at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
Team USA is currently ranked #4 in the world, and the Iranian National Team is ranked #11. The City of Anaheim has been the official Host City for the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Volleyball Teams since 2009.
The match will serve as a training opportunity and good will effort for both the U.S. and Iran. The teams most recently competed in the Federation Internationale De Volleyball World League (FIVB) tournament in Italy last month where Team USA won the championship title for the second time in the team’s history.
Leading up to the USA Volleyball Cup, members of the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team visited youth organizations here in Anaheim. Team members played games and signed autographs during their visits to organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCAs of Anaheim.
