County NonProfit Hosts Family-Friendly Event to Benefit At-Risk and Homeless Youth
IRVINE, Calif. (August 1, 2014) – Illumination Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness in Orange County, invites local residents to Carnival for Kids to help raise funds for the organization’s Children’s Resource Center (CRC). At the CRC, children who may otherwise have nowhere to go are offered tutoring and mentorship, mental health services, gang intervention, extracurricular classes, nutritious meals, and a chance at a bright, more promising future.
Carnival for Kids will take place on Sunday, August 17, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at La Palma Park in Anaheim. Admission and parking for the event are complimentary. The event includes rides, games, interactive cooking demos by Disneyland Resort chefs, food and live music. Event sponsorship is available.
“Both the Children’s Resource Center and Carnival for Kids rely heavily on corporate and individual sponsors, as well as our amazing volunteers in order to make a difference in the lives of so many children who struggle each day,” said Paul Leon, CEO and president of Illumination Foundation. “Carnival for Kids is a great way to get our clients, sponsors, volunteers and the Orange County community to come together, enjoy free or low-cost family-friendly activities, while helping to create a better future for these kids.”
The Children’s Resource Center is located in the Tina Pacific area of Stanton, Calif., where there is the highest population of at-risk youth in Orange County. The Illumination Foundation sees more than 50 children on the wait list denied an opportunity to escape the streets or an unstable home life due to lack of space and resources. The Alcon Foundation, a dedicated corporate sponsor, and IF have put together a Matching Campaign to help expand the CRC to accommodate more children in need. To help with the expansion of the CRC, visit the IF website to make a matching donation.
