ANAHEIM OFFERS AUTO DEALERSHIP ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TO BOOST LOCAL ECONOMY
ANAHEIM, Calif. (June 23, 2014) – In a proactive step to boost the local economy and help local businesses succeed, the Anaheim City Council approved an economic assistance program for existing or new automobile dealerships within the City of Anaheim. This announcement was made at the June 17 City Council meeting.
New car sales are historically a significant contributor to overall sales tax revenue. Additional sales tax revenue helps support city services, as well as adds to or increases those levels of service. Economic assistance programs also encourage job retention, job creation and overall economic growth.
To apply for the program, the qualified dealership will need to provide the City with required information to enable the City to evaluate the applicant, the project, its proposed costs and public benefits. The City Council will then hold a duly noticed public hearing on any recommended participation agreement with the sole authority to approve or deny. This assistance is for the sole purpose of reimbursing qualified automobile dealerships for costs incurred to either expand existing dealerships or to open new automobile dealerships.
For more information regarding the Automobile Dealership Economic Assistance Program, please call the Community and Economic Development Department at (714) 765-4300, x4318.
