ANAHEIM LIBRARY SUMMER READING PROGRAM – “PAWS TO READ”
ANAHEIM, Calif. (June 13, 2014) – One of the highlights of a child’s summer vacation is the Library’s annual Summer Reading Program. This June and July, Anaheim Library’s “Paws to Read” program will offer children a lot of fun while they learn about and interact with some of their animal friends.

Summer Reading Program registration begins Monday, June 16 at any of Anaheim’s seven libraries, plus at the Bookmobile. Each child will receive a chart to keep track of their time spent reading, as well as to win fun prizes. Each Library location will offer special programs and activities, plus opportunities to give back to the animals and pets that we love. Please reference the list below.
- Musical Barnyard Extravaganza & Petting Zoo – at Euclid, June 19 at 3:30 pm
- Rainforest Animals – at Haskett, June 26 at 3:30 pm
- Creepy Crawlers (insect program) – at Ponderosa, June 28 at 12 pm
- Animal Kindness Program with the SPCA – at Ponderosa, June 24 at 5:30 pm
- Wonders of Wildlife – at East Anaheim, June 26 at 11 am
- Stuffed Animal Sleepover drop your animal off for a library sleepover, pick him up the next day to hear about his overnight adventures – at Sunkist, July 1 at 6:30 pm
- Animal Magic – at Sunkist, July 8 at 6:30 pm & at East, July 10 at 11 am
- K949 Training for Humans with Dogs – at Canyon Hills, July 9 at 3:30 pm
- Pet Adoption Days with the SPCA & Barks of Love – at Central, July 10 at 4 pm & at Sunkist, July 22 at 4 pm
- Responsible Pet Ownership with OC Animal Care – at Ponderosa, July 12 at 11:30 am
- Nature’s Window – at Canyon. July 14 at 6:30 pm
- Make Doggy Treats – at Sunkist, July 15 at 6:30 pm
- Paws to Give Donation Drives in honor of Bruno at the branches June 16-July 26. (Canyon and East Anaheim fundraisers will benefit the Friends of the Anaheim Police K9 Association)
- Cowboy Ken – at Central, July 17 at 3:00 pm
- Annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic – at Canyon, July 19 at 11 am
- Read with a Furry Friend – at Ponderosa, July 19 at 11:30 am
