SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FIREFIGHTERS CELEBRATE TWO DECADES OF GIVING WITH SPARK OF LOVE TOY DRIVE
JOIN FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE FINAL STUFF-A-BUS EVENT THIS FRIDAY AT HONDA CENTER
Anaheim, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2013) The Orange County Toy Collaborative (OCTC) has successfully collected and distributed more than 7.5 million toys over the past two decades in support of Spark of Love and Toys for Tots donation programs. The agencies and organizations involved in this collaborative include: Orange County Fire Chiefs Association; U.S. Marine Corps Reserve-Toys for Tots; Orange County Social Services Agency-Operation Santa Claus; and Society of St. Vincent de Paul Orange County, the Spark of Love Toy Drive.
The ABC7 Stuff-A-Bus will host its final event this Friday, December 20 at Honda Center with meteorologist Garth Kemp from 4:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Honda Center located at 2695 East Katella Avenue, Anaheim. The public is encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys or sports equipment to be distributed to children in need throughout Southern California. At 4:00pm, the Orange County Fire Chiefs Association will present toys purchased from funds donated by Disneyland Resort.
This year Southern California Firefighters and ABC7 are celebrating the 21st Spark of Love Toy Drive. The campaign began as a partnership between ABC7 and firefighters throughout five counties including Orange, Riverside, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Ventura.
In Orange County, this toy drive combines the efforts with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program, Social Services Agency’s Operation Santa Claus and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Holiday Charities program. Working together as the Orange County Toy Collaborative, these agencies collect and distribute hundreds of thousands toys annually to Orange County children who may otherwise to go without during the holiday season. This year fire stations throughout Orange County served as drop-off sites for these donations.
