MIRALOMA PARK AND FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY SET FOR OCT. 24
ANAHEIM, CA – (October 18, 2013) Anaheim residents will soon have a new park and family resource center near central/east Anaheim for all to enjoy. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Miraloma Park and Family Resource Center will take place on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m., and the community is invited to attend this special event. A resource fair will also be available with information offered through the various City departments.
The Miraloma Park and Family Resource Center, expected to open in fall 2014, is located at 2600 E. Miraloma Way, Anaheim, CA 92806.
The City of Anaheim is committed to offering services to support needs throughout the entire community. Park space is especially important as outdoor recreational space is vital to healthy living. In 2010, the City acquired land to build the Miraloma Park and Family Resource Center. This project will include the renovation of an existing 4,300 square foot warehouse building into a neighborhood community center. The surrounding land will include a perimeter loop trail, a skate plaza, and outdoor classroom area, picnic facilities, an interactive water feature, drought tolerant landscape, and a playground.
The approximate two acre park was designed with input from local residents through a series of meetings and community outreach. All the details and amenities, even the colors of the Resource Center, were chosen by the residents. The residents said what they wanted in their local park, and the City is delivering those results.
Anaheim’s extensive community meeting process was so successful that the granting agency – the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Grants Division – invited City staff speak to the Agency on the City’s success in working with residents in planning the park space.
