ANAHEIM HONORS MILITARY WITH RED SHIRT FRIDAYS
Beginning tomorrow, Anaheim residents are encouraged to wear red shirt in support of active military members
ANAHEIM, Calif. (October 10, 2013) Red Shirt Fridays in Anaheim officially begins tomorrow, Oct. 11, and residents are encouraged to show support for military members by wearing red shirts on Fridays throughout the year. Long-sleeved, short-sleeved, collared, t-shirts, stripes or solids, don your red shirts and together we can show our support and say thank you for those who currently serve. Visitors to Anaheim City Hall and other City facilities can also observe City employees supporting Red Shirt Fridays.
A Red Shirt Fridays proclamation was officially issued at this past Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. Red Shirt Fridays was initially introduced by Mayor Pro Team Gail Eastman and Council Member Lucille Kring. Their Council colleagues, Mayor Tom Tait and Council Members Kris Murray and Jordan Brandman heartily join in this patriotic effort.
Red Shirt Friday is a small but growing grassroots effort in the United States to honor service members in the Armed Forces who are actively deployed overseas. Red Shirt Friday has been adopted by local governments, community groups and private businesses across the nation.
