ANAHEIM ANNOUNCES COMMUNITY MEETINGS FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT MAPPING
ANAHEIM, CA – (October 9, 2013) The Council District Mapping Community Input project will kick off this month with the first meeting on Wednesday, October 16 at 6 p.m. at the Anaheim City Council Chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805. All are welcome to attend.
The City of Anaheim adopted Ordinance No. 6280 at the July 23 City Council meeting establishing residency districts for City Council members and candidates for Council. This ordinance requires that the City Council create these districts and adopt maps by March 1, 2014 so that the districts can be used at the November 2014 general election.
Maps will be drawn for both four and six Council sets. This is due to the placement of a proposed Charter amendment on the June 2014 ballot asking voters whether the size of the Council will be increased to six plus a separately elected Mayor.
