CITY OF ANAHEIM JOINS WITH OC DISTRICT ATTORNEY FOR COMMUNITY EVENT AT TWILA REID PARK
ANAHEIM, CA – (Sept. 5, 2013) The City of Anaheim is joining the Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) on Monday, Sept. 9 to Beat the H.E.A.T., a rally against human exploitation and trafficking (H.E.A.T), and to bring community members together in support of victims and those affected by these crimes. The public event will take place from 5-8 p.m. at Twila Reid Park (3100 W. Orange Ave., Anaheim, CA). The event will feature food trucks, free frozen yogurt, a rock concert, informational booths, and more.
The Anaheim Police Department works with the OCDA and neighboring law enforcement agencies to protect the innocent and bring the offenders to justice. In 2010, APD was awarded a Bureau of Justice Assistance and Office of Victim Crimes Human Trafficking Grant to accomplish the goal to eradicate these crimes. In 2012, the Anaheim Police Department assumed lead responsibility as lead law enforcement agency of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force. The Task Force includes members from the Westminster Police Department, Community Services Programs, Inc. (CSP Inc.), The Salvation Army, and Public Law Center.
“The issue of human trafficking has local and international implications. The Anaheim Police Department and our partners in the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force are committed to identifying and assisting the victims while vigorously seeking to prosecute and incarcerate those who exploit so many,” said Raul Quezada, Anaheim Police Department Interim Chief.
