SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) filed new charges against a former amusement park worker for sexually assaulting a fourth minor female victim with new additional charges for the sexual assault of Jane Doe #1. The defendant was previously charged with sexually assaulting Jane Doe #1, a female relative, Jane Doe #2, the 7-year-old daughter of a family friend, and Jane Doe #3, another female relative. Bryan William Anast, 45, Corona was charged yesterday, Aug. 28, 2013, with five felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, one felony count of forcible lewd act on a child under 14, one felony count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and one felony count of producing child pornography. He is also facing sentencing enhancements for sex crimes against multiple victims, substantial sexual conduct with a child, and committing lewd acts on multiple children.
On July 11, 2013, Anast was charged with five felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, three felony counts of aggravated sexual assault on a child, three felony counts of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14, and one felony count of possession and control of child pornography, with sentencing enhancements for sex crimes against multiple victims and substantial sexual conduct with children.
If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of 186 years to life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges, tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-5, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
Circumstances of Original Case (Case # 13WF1859)
Between Nov. 2, 1997, and Nov. 1, 2000, Anast is accused of sexually assaulting his female relative, Jane Doe #1, by forcibly digitally penetrating the victim on at least four different occasions in three different locations including Garden Grove and Stanton. The victim was 11 years old in 1997.
In May 2013, Jane Doe #1 contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to report the sexual assaults. Anast was arrested at Disneyland, where he worked as a machinist fixing rides. In his home, Anast is accused of possessing several videos of child pornography on a computer data storage device, including several possibly-amateur images of young girls. Anast was charged with the sex crimes against Jane Doe #1 and for possession of child pornography on June 24, 2013.
The ongoing investigation resulted in the identification of Jane Doe #2 and Jane Doe #3.
Between 1996 and 2000, Anast is accused of sexually assaulting the daughter of a family friend, Jane Doe #2, beginning when she was 7 years old. The defendant is accused of molesting the victim on at least two occasions by rubbing her vaginal area at his home in Orange County and her home in Los Angeles County. OCDA is prosecuting Anast for the crimes that occurred in both Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
Between April 1995 and April 1998, Anast is accused of sexually assaulting another female relative, Jane Doe #3, beginning when she was 7 years old. He is accused of rubbing the vaginal area of Jane Doe #3 on at least three different occasions at the victim’s home in Laguna Hills.
New Charges (Case # 13WF0931)
The ongoing investigation resulted in the filing of additional charges against Anast for Jane Doe #1 and led to the identification of Jane Doe #4.
Between Nov. 2, 1998, and Nov. 1, 1999, Anast is accused of sexually assaulting Jane Doe #1, by forcibly digitally penetrating the victim on several occasions in Garden Grove. The victim was 12 years old in 1998.
Between Oct. 31, 2012, and May 1, 2013, Anast is accused of sexually assaulting a female relative, Jane Doe #4, when she was 8 years old. Anast is accused of rubbing the victim’s vaginal area on several occasions. Anast is accused of possessing several videos of child pornography on his computer which included the sexual assault of Jane Doe #4.
The investigation is ongoing to identify the children depicted in images found in the defendant’s computer. Anyone with additional information or who believes they have been a victim is encouraged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Paul Carvo at (714) 347-8794.
