ANAHEIM, CA – (July 10, 2013) The City of Anaheim’s Public Works, Fleet and Facility Services Division is ranked #20 in the nation on the annual “100 Best Fleets in North America” list. This is the sixth time in eight years that Fleet Services has been recognized by the 100 Best Fleets in North America panel, and is the highest ranking to date. The awards were announced at a national Fleet Conference held in San Antonio, Texas last month.
The “100 Best” fleet program evaluates government fleets based on criteria such as collaboration, creativity, quick efficient turnaround, competitive pricing, resource stewardship, doing it right the first time, and use of technology and information, among others. The program is sponsored by Government Fleet Magazine.
Some of the noteworthy accomplishments by Anaheim’s Fleet Services over the last year include:
· Increased fleet preventative maintenance (PM) completion to above the industry standard percentage of 95%.
· Saved more than $580,000 by reducing the size of the fleet, creating a motor pool for shared use, and other operating efficiencies.
· Benchmarked the fleet operation against the private sector to insure cost competitiveness and value.
The City of Anaheim’s fleet consists of more than 1,100 vehicles and pieces of equipment including everything from hybrid sedans to pickup trucks, utility carts, patrol cars, fire apparatus and bucket trucks. Fleet and Facility Services manages the entire fleet, providing maintenance, repairs, and fuel, as well as all aspects of regulatory compliance, vehicle purchasing and disposal, and strategic planning.
This award highlights Anaheim Fleet Services’ continuing commitment to providing exceptional customer service, high quality, and competitive pricing.
