ANAHEIM CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT TO MEET TONIGHT
Meeting to be held at Anaheim Central Library
ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 11, 2013) Anaheim’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Elections and Community Involvement (CAC) meeting on Thursday, April 11 will begin discussion on the development of recommendations. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
Steven Lynn, former chair for the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC), will lead the members in discussing the recommendations and begin drafting a report to the City Council.
Lynn was the presiding officer for the IRC and conducted more than 100 meetings and hearings. In addition, he has worked with community processes, including as an administrator and consultant to more than 50 municipalities in Arizona, Nevada, California and Puerto Rico.
The 11-member CAC, formed on Aug. 10, 2012, will report its findings and recommendations directly to the City Council by May 31, 2013, including recommendations on: Potential changes in the City’s election systems; How to encourage voter registration; How to identify and engage community groups in elections and in local government decision making; Language assistance programs; and other techniques to promote full participation in the electoral process.
The April 11 meeting will be held at Anaheim Central Library, 500 West Broadway, Anaheim, CA 92805, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The remaining two meetings will take place on April 18 and May 9, at the Anaheim City Hall Council Chambers (200 S.
