ANAHEIM PLANNING DEPT. SEEKS RESIDENT INPUT FOR HOUSING ELEMENT UPDATE
ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 18, 2013) Anaheim residents are invited to attend upcoming meetings to learn about the City’s Housing Element Update and to offer input on what is important to both their specific neighborhoods and the City as a whole.
The need for all forms of housing in the City will be discussed, including single family homes, apartments and senior housing at both market rate and affordable levels. The Housing Element is one of seven State-mandated elements of the City’s General Plan. Under State law, the Housing Element helps ensure that cities adopt land use plans and regulations that encourage housing development that meets local needs, and provides the framework to address the existing and projected housing needs of the community.
The meeting dates and locations are as follows, with the same information to be presented at each workshop:
Wednesday, March 20, 7-9 p.m.
Brookhurst Community Center, 2271 W. Crescent Ave.
Thursday, March 21, 7-9 p.m.
Gordon Hoyt Conference Room, Anaheim West Tower, 201 S. Anaheim Blvd.
Saturday, March 23, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
East Anaheim Community Center, 8201 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road
The workshops are designed to support input for the 2014-21 Housing Element Update, to be adopted by the City Council this fall, and to gather community input on the opportunities and challenges towards meeting the housing needs of current and future Anaheim residents. A second series of workshops to be held this summer will focus on potential policies and programs aimed at addressing the City’s housing needs.
