A young man in his 20’s was was crossing Beach Boulevard, going eastbound, outside of a crosswalk and intersection, when he was struck by a gray Honda CR-V being driven by Victor Acosta-Inzunza, 31 of Anaheim, early Monday morning, at around 1:40 a.m., at Beach Boulevard, south of West Lincoln Avenue, according to the O.C. Register.
Acosta-Inzunza apparently fled from the scene, in his vehicle. However a witness saw the crash and followed (the driver) on city streets before going southbound on the 5 freeway, according to the Anaheim Police.
The police caught up with Acosta-Inzunza near Disneyland Drive and he was ultimately arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run with injury.
Reportedly Acosta-Inzunza did not appear to be under the influence when he was arrested.
The unidentified victim was in critical condition, at a local hospital, where he is being treated for head injuries. He is in recovery and is expected to survive.
Officials said the pedestrian was taken with critical head injures to a hospital, where he later began to recover and is expected to survive, police said.
Beach Blvd, near West Lincoln Ave., was closed by the police for several hours while the street was cleaned.
