Former Assemblymember Jose Solorio Endorses Dr. Jose F. Moreno for Anaheim City Council
(Anaheim) – Former California State Assemblymember Jose Solorio announced his endorsement of Dr. Jose F. Moreno for Anaheim City Council today. Solorio represented the 69th Assembly District, which includes the city of Santa Ana and parts of the cities of Anaheim and Garden Grove. He is also a former Santa Ana City Councilmember.
“Dr. Jose Moreno is one of a kind. Regardless of how big the challengers may appear, he will always be an advocate for residents that need help at City Hall. We need strong leaders like Dr. Moreno that will build partnerships between the City, school districts, and neighborhood associations. Join me in helping elect Dr. Moreno to the Anaheim City Council,” Jose Solorio shared following his endorsement.
“I’m extremely grateful for Assemblymember Solorio’s endorsement,” Dr. Moreno said today. “I am deeply committed to the Anaheim community and as a father, I want to help create an Anaheim that my children will be proud of. As long as we let the needs of our families and communities guide us, we will be successful in our attempts to improve Anaheim. I am happy to stand side-by-side with Assemblymember Solorio and thank him for his support.”
Dr. Jose F. Moreno is currently the President of the Board of Education for the Anaheim City School District. He is also an Associate Professor at California State University, Long Beach, where he focuses on Latino Education and Policy Studies.
Dr. Moreno received his B.A. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine, his Ed.M. from Harvard University, and his Ed.D. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy.
Dr. Jose F. Moreno also sits on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Community Housing Corporation (OCCHC) which works to help extremely low-income families, with salaries under $10 an hour, gain greater self-sufficiency and lead enriched lives. He also sits on the Anaheim Police Department Chief’s Advisory Board. In 2007, he was honored as the Anaheim LULAC Citizen of the Year and recognized as one of the 100 most influential Latinos of Orange County in 2008 by Stay Connected OC-Emerging Markets Network.
A father of four beautiful girls, Dr. Moreno and his wife, Lorena Moreno, a Principal in the Long Beach Unified School District, are among the founding parents of the first Dual Language Immersion Program in Anaheim.
