ANAHEIM, Calif. – (October 30, 2013) – On Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Brookhurst Street and Cerritos Avenue in the unincorporated area of Anaheim. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver, Dennis Wayne Ross, 44, Garden Grove, had outstanding arrest warrants for Under the Influence, Possession of Methamphetamine and Violation of a Domestic Violence Court Order.
During the deputies’ attempt to take Ross into custody, Ross started the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. Once the vehicle stopped, the deputy was able to reach over and turn the ignition off. Other deputies arrived to assist as Ross continued to physically resist being taken into custody.
The deputy suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital. Ross was arrested on the outstanding warrants as well as Attempted Murder, Assault & Battery on a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being booked at the Orange County Jail. Ross is currently being held in Orange County Jail without bail.
